The Hazel Atlas glass company made glassware up until the mid 1950’s. It was a forerunner of household glass and kitchenware surviving the Great Depression. At one time had over 15 plants in the USA. Particularly interesting is just how many different designs of mason jars and canning jars spanned their legacy. (Earliest production is late 1800’s up until 1956).

This jar lot is on RetroChalet, and shows five different jars, and no two alike. A collector may have a field day just seeing how many different jars from the same manufactuer they can collect!
It’s amazing to think if the company was in business for nearly seven decades just how many bazillion mason jars WERE out there, versus how many are actually still out there. Although canning jars were used in homes to can food and vegetables, it’s uncertain how many were chipped, cracked, broken, dropped, or discarded over the years. As time goes on, more and more glassware will be discarded into the landfills and less of the Hazel Atlas available to find.
Mason jars like these are good for:
-Organizing Craft Supplies
-Storage of Dry Goods like beans, pasta, rice
-Storage of Sewing Kit (needle, thread, small scissors)
-Storage of dry herbs and seasonings

This lot is for sale on Etsy at Shop RetroChalet.
