Vintage porcelain glove molds make great displays in your home. Adding a piece of mid century modern or industrialism to your collection couldn’t be easier as some have survived the test of time. Most antique ones are porcelain and were used in factories to make plastic gloves. Today they are used for art objects, home decorations, and Halloween decor.

From think latex to heavy lobster gloves, the molds were usually cast of ceramic and porcelain and attached to an assembly line. Dipped into a vat of molten rubber, then around they went to dry. The molds themselves were screwed to the bases that were on the assembly line. Just think how long this may have taken to make a pair of gloves. Glove molds you will find today may still have remnants of the original molding attachment-glue on the base proving their place in history.
Over time American factories closed and most of this production got outsourced to China. Finding remnants of America’s industrial age can make for cool display in the home. Most are too fat to display rings on the fingers, but draping necklaces and bracelets on the hand may prove a worthy fix.
